What Will Recruitment Be Like in the Year 2025

What Will Recruitment Be Like in the Year 2025 Where we are at now? I recruit for all types of recruitment businesses and represent all levels of recruiters, although generally I tend to specialise more in very experienced individuals, given my tenure in the sector, from a peerage perspective. As someone who physically enters and immerses themselves into their clients cultures, getting to know their processes, nuances, systems, culture inside out, there really is no parity across recruitment generally speaking. There is still a disparity with recruitment companies embracing social media policies within their candidate and brand strategies, database systems used with how that management data is used to a business’ advantage; there will always be a vast contrast in the operation of a business and how it uses KPIs  and other measures of its performance to manage the staff billing the revenue. There are so many options on the market for software, databases, integrated systems to bring you the best candidates, quicker, faster straight to your pc. Who needs to headhunt, right? Reflection Who would have predicted 10 yrs ago how recruitment would look now in 2015. I set my business up in 2005 (yes my 10 yr anniversary in October!) and as long as you had a fairly decent website and a mobile, you were sorted! Can you imagine doing that now? I can recall clients saying their biggest threat/worry was competitors and job boards. LinkedIn and Facebook- friend of foe? As we all know now, the fact you are reading this via a social media link somewhere, we haven’t made ourselves extinct. Yet! Sensible recruiters have either been trained properly in HOW to use social media and how each application is relevant to that audience. Having said that, I hear regular anecdotes of those who seem to think it is a free for all and a blanket approach to potential candidates is a wise attraction method- NOT! Face2face or Skype I personally meet every single candidate and client I represent- however, that is because I focus purely on the local area so it is physically possible for me to do so. I advocate the use of skype and facetime for those who cover a vaster/international areas as at least then you can watch and observe in the next best way. (although personally, i get distracted by my own camera and feel very vain flicking my hair and fiddling with my pen!) There are pros and cons of how the recruitment landscape looks currently, aren’t there and personally, I think there is a definite trend towards the “old skool” approach of personal recommendations, a more quality focused approach (well, this has been my focus for 10 yrs+ anyway.) So what will the recruitment market place look like in 2025? Specialists and exclusive I predict we will see a more clearly defined split in the market into market and discipline specialists. Recruitment is all about being the “go to” person and I think in any over crowded market place, discerning job seekers will grow to realise the benefit in trusting the one person to do this. Recruitment companies should think about this now and incorporate it into their training of staff and ensure they have an incentive too to get the best candidates ring fenced. Candidate led As skills shortages continue in the growth markets such as technology and manufacturing to name just two, I think that most perm and interim market will remain very candidate short and therefore recruitment companies should think about this when setting targets and their methods of recruiting now. Focus on what the candidates need not just the clients briefs! Technology I think that mobile technology will be the main focus as it already is for large employers; how does your website and candidate attraction work on mobile? Will robots replace humans by then? Well, I think that portal based recruitment already removes the human element for large scale based clients. There is already a backlash against this way of recruiting and I think we will see a rise in RPO providers to bring back the human element for these sized projects. Therefore, recruitment businesses need to ensure they have a robust training and development program to allow their hires now and in the future adapt a reactive style to a much more proactive one to ensure they are not left behind in the past as so many are. I hear of many draconian style recruitment businesses who are stuck in the 1990s (“time for the guru!”) and refuse to adapt or move ahead of the curve. What do you think? What will recruitment look like in 2025? I hope I am still recruiting then, with as much passion and love for the sector as I have now. Will you still be in recruitment or not? As always I want to know your predictions and whether you agree with my forecast. See you in 2025 to see if I was right!

Design Your Own Productivity System For Greater Efficiency - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Design Your Own Productivity System For Greater Efficiency - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Im organizationally challenged. As result, Ive read nearly every book and tried all kinds of systems to keep me focused and on track. The problem is that I seem unable to adopt many of the tips and tools suggested by productivity experts. I suspect that there is a gene for organization and productivity. People who have it intuitively keep their spaces organized and get things done efficiently, and those who dont, like me, struggle. However, I have managed to hack together my own system that fits how I work. If you find yourself unable to use GTD and complicated planners, here are tips to creating your own productivity system. 1. Identify whats not working in your current system or systems youve tried. Do you end up with too many Post-It notes or notebooks filled with ideas that you never refer back to? Do you forget appointments or double-book your time? Are there long-term projects that you dont make headway on because more urgent tasks consume your time? Do you get a lot of work done, but still run out of time? The key to creating a system that works is to figure out whats not working. 2. What is your organizational style? Im one of those people that if its out of sight, its out of mind. So my style is that I need everything where I can see it. Every task is written down. Items I need to tend to are sitting in a pile on my desk. Although I use many digital tools such as Google Calendar and Evernote, my planner is my own creation that has every task for the entire week.  It makes a messier workspace, but it helps me get things done. Your style may be all digital. It may include alarms to remind you when to switch tasks or to make a call or go on an appointment. 3. Knowing your style, develop systems for capturing, prioritizing, filtering, sorting and doing tasks. For example, I use Gmail and have it set up so that it shows me several panes; in-box, to-do, to read and to reply. I use labels, but my mail is only labeled and archived when Im ready to save it, but dont need to do anything anymore. Remember, if I cant see it, I wont remember to do it. I also keep many tabs open on my browser at a time so I can easily move between email, research, social media etc. Paper is more challenging, but I have a file bin at my desk where I file papers for this year. Papers from last year in another bin. That way I dont have to get up and go to a file cabinet, which I never did so my papers were always in a huge pile until I dumped them, unorganized into a box. 4. Identify your peak work times. Productivity isnt just about organization, its also about energy management. Focus on getting the most work done during your peak energy times. Put work that doesnt require a lot of mental focus during times you feel sluggish. For example, once I eat lunch, my energy, and therefore productivity, goes down. So I do all my writing and other high-energy activities before lunch. 5. Find ways to boost energy and motivation. Sometimes you dont have the option to work when you feel your best. To help you get through, develop tricks to get you going. Play upbeat music, make it game and time yourself or reward yourself when you finish. 6. Use your system. Productivity tips and tools only work if you use them. 7. Tweak your system. Youll know fairly quickly whats not working, but because its your system, you can change it. Little tweaks here and there will improve your system and productivity. Productivity is all about doing more in less time. But not all productivity systems and tools work for everyone. Instead of trying to change the way you work to fit a system, which will almost always slow you down, create your own personalized system.

5 Reasons to Buy Used College Textbooks

5 Reasons to Buy Used College Textbooks If you are about to start taking college classes, you might be overwhelmed by the price of buying brand-new textbooks. They certainly aren’t cheap, that’s for sure. Instead of paying full price for brand-new college textbooks, you do have the option to buy used books from former students that previously took the class. Are you ready to begin your college career? Take a look at five reasons why you’re much better off buying used college textbooks instead of purchasing them when they are brand-new.  It’s A Lot Cheaper to Buy Used Books We already briefly touched upon this, but it definitely bears repeating. In some cases, you could end up paying $100 or more for a brand-new textbook. But for many of us that are on a very tight budget, this is just too much money to have to spend on top of all the money that you’re already spending to get a good college education. If this is the case for you, used textbooks are definitely the way to go. By buying used, you can get as much is 25%, 50%, and 75% off or even more. Many Used Textbooks Contain Highlighting For some people, they are going to hate having textbooks that are already highlighted. For others, this is going to be a godsend because the person that owned the book before you will have already focused on the most important parts and highlighted them so that you don’t have to. So whether or not you like highlighting depends on your particular personality. If you’re looking for a textbook that’s already prepared with the most important points highlighted for you already, then you’re going to absolutely love buying used textbooks. On the other hand, if you’d prefer to highlight sections on your own, you may not like this because somebody already did the work for you. You’ll Get an Awesome Price When You Sell the Textbook  If you keep your textbook in great condition, you’re going to end up getting an awesome price when you turn around and sell it when the semesters over and you no longer need it. This is an awesome option to have, because it’s practically like putting a deposit on your textbook that you get back at the end of the semester. But remember, you have to keep your book in good condition in order to get top dollar, so that’s important to keep in mind. You’ll Save Tremendous Money on the Most Expensive Books According to BookScouter.com, a site focused on selling textbooks, “Needless to say, textbook prices are rising, and it’s a problem.” This should seem obvious, but if a book is really expensive when buying it brand-new, you’ll end up with an excellent discount when you purchase it used. Sure, you won’t be the first person to read the book, but is that really necessary? If you don’t mind studying from a book that somebody else already used, you’re going to end up saving a great deal of money buying the most expensive books in used condition as opposed to new. Quick Shipping Used textbooks sellers realize that students need to get their hands on these books very fast, so they are willing to ship textbooks to their customers quickly. So, if you’re afraid to buy a textbook online because your class is about to start and you’re afraid you won’t have the book in time, don’t worry because textbooks sellers will ship it to you right away. And if you’re really concerned, you could always pay a little more and request expedited shipping. Conclusion Clearly, there is tremendous value in purchasing used college textbooks. Hopefully, these five reasons will help change your mind about this wonderful option.

What Employers Look For In New Graduates - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

What Employers Look For In New Graduates - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career September is usually a busy month for graduates or college seniors who are about to graduate. Many schools invite employers and recruiters during September in order to help their students get hired. However, finding that very first job is not always easy because there are many other students competing for the same positions in the very same companies. Therefore, it is important to know beforehand what employers look for in new graduates and below you can find them. Problem Solving Skills: This is one of the most important skills employers look for in new graduates. Every day we come across with many problems because this is the nature of doing business. People who don’t give up when a new problem arises and can come up with possible solutions to solve that problem are the ones that will become successful and be one of the future leaders of tomorrow.   Throwing out ideas for solutions is ok but companies need people who can turn these ideas into reality. Ideas alone are not enough to solve the problems but execution of these ideas are. For this reason, a new graduate who have problem solving skills worth his/her weight in gold. Ability to Work in a Team: Team work is essential in corporations. You need to be able to work with others in order to reach a common goal. Therefore, it is important that each person understands what is expected of him/her. If one fails to fulfill his/her responsibilities in a team, then, this may create a domino effect and affect the success of the whole project. For this reason, employers prefer to hire graduates who can work together in harmony with a team rather than someone who likes to work by themselves. Positive Attitude: Employees with positive attitude are generally more liked by other coworkers and perform better in the workplace. For example; you have two coworkers and one of them is a happy and energetic person and the other one is pessimistic and always complains about everything. Who would you prefer to work with in this situation? The person who brings everyone down or who cheers up everyone? I am sure the answer is clear. Therefore, always have a big smile on your face when you are networking in a career fair or in your interviews. Communication Skills: We need to communicate with other people to do business because we need to pass along information to them and more importantly, we need to transfer this information correctly. Therefore, having good reading, writing and listening skills is very important in today’s corporate world. Good listeners understand the necessary information correctly and ask questions if they need to clarify a point. Good writers pass out the information to others properly and good readers do not miss any important points while reading the information. For this reason, employers pay close attention to communication skills of new graduates.

9 Easy Ways to Make Your Resume Stand Out

9 Easy Ways to Make Your Resume Stand Out Even if you send a customized resume to your targeted employers list, your resume does not have a lot of time to leave an impression. To catch the reader’s attention on your resume, you need a cover letter first that compels the hiring manager to flip around and read your single paged resume.Your cover letter has done its job. When the hiring manager is on your resume, he is expecting something that will excite him and coerce him to talk to you.evalHence, to make your resume stand out and make the reader get in touch with you, here are 10 things that must be present on your resume and are readable in the first few seconds of glances.1) The Kind of Work You DoevalYour resume must communicate to the employer the kind of work you do right now. Your career summary would take care of it. Be professional with the kind of language you use, otherwise, the purpose of your message would be lost. Get right to the point. For example: “I am an IT Manager specializing in large scale software im plementation.”2) You are Attentive and SmartThis would be the basic job requirement for any job that you apply to. This means that you can’t have any typos, spelling errors or any other errors in it.3) You Understand the Business EnoughIt is a must that your resume must convey that you have a proper understanding of the business you are getting into. Highlight your business knowledge through examples rather than just including jargon and buzzwords.4) You Have a Clear Career GoalIt is important for the employer to understand your career role and how this role fits in it. The more they find logical progression in your resume, the more it will display a stronger aspect of your career.eval5) You Have an Appropriate Educational InformationYour resume must tell the recruiter about your knowledge and from where did you attain this knowledge. Even if your training happened somewhere else than your college, the recruiter should know that.6) You are Capable and ReliableevalJust saying “ I am capable” and “I am reliable” does not make you one. The recruiter on your resume is looking for instances that show that you are both. Putting up these words without any support is just a waste of time. Show your best qualities to your recruiter through your resume and not just talk about them.7) You Pay Attention to DetailsDetails are important. Make sure your cover letter and your resume has the same font, same size and use the same link Your resume is one of the most important documents required during your job search that can help you make it or break it. To make it, it is important that you have your resumestand out from the competition.Another way to make your resumestand out is by knowing what must not be listed on the resume. Here is a list of ten things that must not be included in your resume.Your past or current salarySelf-praising adjectivesAny information that is confidential to the ex-employer and might cause legal issuesYour height, weight, ethnicity, marita l status or anything related to religion or caste is not required on your resume. If you know what to include and what not to, your resumewould definitely help you get an edge over others.

The Untold Realities of Living a Financially Responsible Life - Cubicle Chic

The Untold Realities of Living a Financially Responsible Life - Cubicle Chic The Untold Realities of Living a Financially Responsible Life Debt-free Life, Home Life January 16, 2018 19 CommentsTop: Equipment Alma Silk Top, size S // Handbag: Palla A-Bag  use my 15% off code “Cubicle_chic” (P.S. They’re also available on Amazon!)To a lot of my newer friends, I probably seem like I have it together when it comes to personal finance. However, what I’m sharing today about the untold realities of living a financially responsible life will introduce you to a different side of me. Oh and in case you’re interested about more personal finance articles I’ve written as a fashion blogger, here’s  the 9 ways fashion blogging ruined my finances.Hello, My Name Is Jessica. I Am A Shopaholic.    (This is where you say “Hi, Jessica.”)Do you know someone who you’re pretty sure has a shopping addiction? If you knew me before 2016, you’d probably think that I was one of them. Perhaps the word addiction is a bit of a hyperbole, and I certainly never received a clinical diagnosis. But the impulsivity, utter disorganizati on, and unending appetite that I shopped with indicated something was, at the very least, behaviorally wrong with me on the personal finance front. And yes, something was indeed wrong â€" I had no idea what I was doing wrong! An Incarnation AgoI knew all the common knowledge â€" you need to save, and you shouldn’t spend more than you make, start investing in retirement early, etc. But I was still shopping the way I did anyway because I worked hard. I was living a privileged life, sure â€" I lived in my parents’ house and they were kind enough to not charge me rent, I didn’t have a student loan to deal with also thanks to my parents, and didn’t have anyone that I was responsible for financially. But I also worked hard at my budding marketing career, putting in all the hours and oftentimes overtime work too. So, I spent pretty much all my hard-earned money on fun â€" eating out, traveling, and of course, shopping. And I’m talking about designer shopping â€" $600 a pair of sho es and $2000 handbags kind of shopping. I think my record year was $30K spent on online shopping. Over a period of 3 years of having a full-time job, I had no savings, retirement or cash, and racked up about $5000 in credit card debt along the way.The Change2015 was a transformative year for me. It was the year that I moved in with my then boyfriend (husband now) and we started merging our finances together. I attribute most of my transformative progress in becoming a financially responsible person to my husband. He patintly showed me the way and shouldered our expenses together as I paid off my debt in 2016.  Another positive influence came from personal finance expert Dave Ramsey and his $100, 9-week course Financial Peace University which my husband and I took together. We often tell people it was our version of pre-marital counseling sessions. It was a difficult year to say the least, filled with many trials and tribulations and a lot of growing pains. I had to change my proble matic shopping behavior and tendencies and most importantly of all, my money mindset. I can write a book on this process. Leave me a comment if you’re curious!Top: Equipment Alma Silk Top, size S // Handbag: Palla A-Bag  use my 15% off code “Cubicle_chic” (P.S. They’re also available on Amazon!)Fast Forward To The Present, 2018A wedding, a new house, and 2 new jobs later, we are living a married life that I couldn’t possibly have imagined before. We have a budget we share and hold each other accountable for. We have a mortgage but are on a 10-year track to pay it off. We are a one-car household (that’s a rarity in California) but we make it work. I sometimes wonder how would the 2014-Jessica view my current life, if she could travel ahead in time and peer into it now? I think she would be puzzled, confused, and overall questioning how it works. So that leads me to what I’m here to write about today…Top: Equipment Alma Silk Top, size S // Handbag: Palla A-Bag  use my 15% off code “Cubicle_chic” (P.S. They’re also available on Amazon!)The Realities of Living a Financially Responsible LifeThere’s the good and, of course, there’s the bad. What I would say is that all the bad is completely worth the good. And in the end, the bad isn’t so bad when you accept it as a way of life. The less-than-glamorous side of living a financially responsible life:1. It’s not just about the budget anymore.  It’s about sticking to the budget, and checking and re-checking, aligning and re-aligning month after month. It does not stop. The only time when the budget feels like it’s not there anymore is when you and your budget are so in-synch, you don’t need to rely on it to know when to spend or when not to spend. But then life throws curve-balls at you. A flat tire. A leaky water heater. A friend who you haven’t seen decided to visit you last minute. Any of these things might put you in front of your budget again. I had to learn to be good friends w ith my budget and know that it means well so I don’t get sick of seeing it again and again.2. The impromptu Target cosmetic-aisle shopping-spree is no longer. This used to be my cure-it-all whenever I was having a bad day or just feeling down. The fluorescent lighting, plethora of new cosmetic and skincare products, and the HOPE of perfect skin almost always lifted my mood when I was down. But it was nevertheless a temporary solution. After the novelty and excitement wore off, the neon-orange shopping bag (when the remedy was the Ulta sort instead of Target) would scream at me and remind me how and irresponsible I was with my money. Then I’d feel worse. Not to mention, I only have a $250 shopping budget now. If I walked out of Target with $150 in purchases…. I’d only have $100 left!!3. Designer things are a dream-like, remote possibility.OK, guys, please don’t judge me or hate me for this fact. But I have a confession to make. I have 5 Chanel, 4 Louis Vuitton, 3 Gucci and 1 Proenza Schouler purses/handbags. Some of them came as gifts, but most of them I bought. I no longer owe any debt on any of them, but a few of them I did put on credit card when I bought them at the time. I have a weakness for luxury goods, obvi. But the last designer bag I purchased was in 2016. Ever since I went through the personal finance transformation, it’s become clear that designer goods purchase cannot be a frequent occurrence in my life anymore. It’s questionable whether there would be an occurrence at all. Unless I find another job where I make 6 figure again, I need to eliminate this reality from my life. No more designer bag purchases in the near future.4. I have learned to either say NO, or wait patiently  to save up for what I want which is not within my budget.Saying no to things I want is hard. But it’s even harder to say no to things that feel like they are a need.  For example, my hair. You see my long super grown-out roots? They’re so grown out they’ re barely roots anymore. But I have been waiting for a time when I have $200-$300 so I can fix it. I am also contemplating going black again. Because that perfectly ashy brown color? VERY expensive to maintain. Another example is our unfurnished master bedroom. We just completed a $25K master bedroom renovation in December. We went over budget. The next thing on the list to do was to furnish our bedroom (the only thing in it now is a queen-sized bed on a box spring and nothing else) but since we went over budget, we decided to wait a few months to replenish our cash reserve before shopping for our master bedroom furniture.Top: Equipment Alma Silk Top, size S // Handbag: Palla A-Bag  use my 15% off code “Cubicle_chic” (P.S. They’re also available on Amazon!)The unexpected UPSIDE of a living a financially responsible life:1. I appreciate things now for what they are, and not what they represent.I still enjoy designer products, but they don’t mean the same thing to me anymore. When it comes to the things that I use in my daily life now, I am much much more about quality than the brand. For example, this pink little handbag I am carrying in the photos in this post â€" it’s made by a company called Palla. This is the A-bag and it’s made of natural leather and is the most versatile bag I’ve had for as long as I’ve had this blog. It can be worn crossbody, on the shoulder, it’s got a little point pouch attached, and it’s reversible so it can be pink or it can be gray. Palla has generously agreed to give me a unique discount code for Cubicle Chic readers “@cubicle_chic” â€" use it to get 15% off if you wind up purchasing one of the Palla bags. And if you do, can you do me a favor and tell me about what you think?? 2. I am living life fuller than ever now because owning material things is no longer an excuse I can use to feel like I am living well.  Like I mentioned above, a shopping spree at Target or Ulta is no longer a viable option as a pick -me-up when I feel uninspired or just down. So, I started going to the library. Cleaning the house. Picking a playlist on Spotify and have a one-person dance party. Binging on an oldie-but-goodie favorite audiobook like When Breath Becomes Air. Calling and talking to a friend who I haven’t spoken to in a long time. Reading a book that’s been sitting on my desk for months. I started LIVING more.3. Financial peace is a real thing and it’s awesome. One of my cats was diagnosed with cancer in October last year. She is 14-years old and to say she is the love of my life would be an understatement. Sometimes I even question how much I’d love my future kids because it doesn’t feel like it’s possible to love anything else more in this world. And when she was diagnosed with cancer, we actually caught it early and were lucky to have a few treatment options available. We decided to go for the treatments even though it costs about $500 a month. But even before we decided to move forwa rd with the treatment plan, we’d already spent a couple of thousands just in the test we ran to get the right diagnoses. If it wasn’t for the cash reserve we built up in our emergency fund, this sure was going to put us in panic mode, needing to scrounge up this kind of cash. It was enough of an emotional roller coaster to go through the process of finding out the love of my life has cancer. We really appreciated not having to worry about the financial aspect of putting her through the treatment.4.  We are able to be more generous. My husband and I love having friends and family over. We LOVE hosting parties. We love preparing delicious food and entertaining our guests. We both derive a lot of joy and pleasure out of ensuring our guests have a good time in our home. For example, we threw a Friendsmas party this Christmas and we had the most fun having 12 grown-ups and 5 kids over â€" it was such a blast! But hosting people comes with some real financial commitment. And having a   budget with flexibility within it so we can be generous in providing hospitality when we want to â€" is a real joy.  Conclusion…So, now that I’ve shared my life story with you… it’s your turn! Tell me: where are you on your personal finance journey? What’s your biggest obstacle right now, budgeting, saving, making more income, or something else? If you can travel through a time machine and ask your future-have-it-together-self, what would you ask him/her?All photography by Natalie Alvarado @ Stylenfuse++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Hearts of Gold Blog | Simply Classy | Rose Gold Lining | Ruthie Ridley BlogComing Up Roses | Well and Worthy Life | Cubicle Chic | SheShe Show | Lizzie in LaceKiss Me Darling | by Brittani Lauren | Heart of Chic | The Blue Hydrangeas | Alicia TeniseTo Thine Own Style Be True | Uptown Fashion by Jess | Lauren Mazzei Blog | The Steele MaidenLifestyles By Lauren | Life Lutzurious | Kate Loves Makeup | Kelly Towa rt Blog | Blush and BloomsPretty In Pink Megan | Belle by Laurelle | cute little | Street Style Squad |L.
